Kason Ricks ID’d as Driver Injured in LaBelle Collision on Farm-to-Market Road 365 at Labelle Road

LaBelle, Texas (October 24, 2022) – 20-year-old Kason Ricks of Houston has been identified as the driver who was injured in a traffic accident that happened Monday morning in LaBelle.

According to a report by the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash happened at around 9:30 a.m. on Farm-to-Market Road 365 at Labelle Road.

As per the DPS report, Ricks was driving a 2003 Dodge SUV westbound on Farm-to-Market Road 365 when he attempted to make a left turn into a private drive and turned in front of an eastbound 2017 Peterbilt truck tractor.

The SUV was struck by the truck tractor on its right side. After the impact, the SUV veered off the road to the right and drove into a parking lot, where it hit four more vehicles, including a 2005 Ford pickup, a 2012 Chevrolet passenger car, a 2010 Mazda passenger car, and a 1997 Chevrolet SUV.

Ricks’s SUV caught fire after the crash.

Ricks was transported to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in unknown condition. The driver of the truck tractor, identified as 51-year-old Mark Papillion of Humble, was uninjured.

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers are investigating the crash.
