Teenage Bicyclist Struck, Killed by Vehicle on FM 92 in Hardin County

15-Year-Old Boy Killed in Hardin County Bicycle Accident on FM 92 near Silsbee

Hardin County, Texas (January 31, 2023) – A teenage bicyclist died after being struck by a hit-and-run driver on Sunday night in Hardin County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The deadly crash happened at around 7:39 p.m. Sunday, January 29, on FM 92, about two miles north of Silsbee.

DPS said a 15-year-old boy was riding his bicycle when he travelled into the path of a 2018 Buick Encore that was heading northbound on FM 92.

The Buick ultimately hit the 15-year-old bicyclist. He was then struck by another vehicle that was heading northbound.

The bicyclist was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The driver of the Buick, Jamie Mather of Silsbee, was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation by DPS. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call Lufkin DPS Communications at (936) 699-7340.
