2 Dead in Wrong-Way Crash on I-30 in Fort Worth

Two Killed in Fort Worth Two-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 30 near West Loop 820
Fort Worth, Texas (January 4, 2019) – Two people were killed early Friday morning in a wrong-way crash on a Fort Worth freeway, according to a local news release.
The fatal crash occurred at about 3:30 a.m. on Interstate 30, near West Loop 820.
Police said they received several calls about a woman driving westbound in eastbound lanes of the freeway. They responded and located the wrong-way driver. They then tried to stop her by deploying spike strips but were not successful.
The police followed the woman with the lights and sirens activated, but she didn’t stop. She then collided head-on with another vehicle.
Both the woman and the other driver were killed in the crash. They were the sole occupants of their vehicles. The identities of the victims have not been disclosed.
The eastbound lanes of I-30 at Alameda Street were closed following the crash. The lanes were later reopened.
The police are investigating the crash.
