5 Injured in Wrong-Way Crash on East Monte Cristo Road in Edinburg

Five Injured in Edinburg Three-Vehicle Crash on East Monte Cristo Road

Edinburg, Texas (May 25, 2021) – Five people were injured in a wrong-way crash Saturday morning in Edinburg, according to the police.

The crash happened around 7:00 a.m., May 22, in the 2800 block of East Monte Cristo Road.

Police said a 17-year-old was driving a Ford Fusion westbound in the eastbound lanes when they crashed head-on into a Ford F-150 pickup truck.

The Fusion then crashed into a Dodge Caravan, causing the Caravan to crash into a nearby fence.

The Fusion driver was taken to DHR in critical condition. Three people in the pickup truck were taken to McAllen Medical for treatment.

The Caravan driver was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The crash remains under investigation.
