Gerald Hillman Killed, Kekela Richards Injured in Rye Two-Vehicle Crash on FM 787

Rye, Texas (October 26, 2023) – One person was killed and another was seriously injured Tuesday evening in a head-on crash in Rye, according to the authorities.

The fatal crash happened around 5:47 p.m., October 24, on FM 787.

Authorities said Gerald Hillman, 60, of Huffman, was driving a 2018 Ford E350 box van westbound on the highway while Kekela Richards, 40, of Thicket, Texas, was driving a 1997 Ford F250 pickup truck eastbound.

Richards drove into the westbound lane and crashed head-on into the box van.

Hillman was killed in the crash.

Richards was airlifted to HCA Kingwood Hospital with serious injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
