Man Killed in DUI Car Crash on North Freeway in Houston

54-Year-Old Man Killed in Houston Crash on North Freeway (North Interstate Highway 45); Juan David Almanza Arrested
Houston, Texas (March 21, 2019) – A 54-year-old man was killed early Monday morning in an alleged DUI crash in Houston, according to authorities.
The deadly accident happened at around 2:15 a.m. Monday, March 18 in the 1300 North Freeway. North Freeway is also known as Interstate Highway 45.
Authorities said Juan David Almanza, 36, was driving a white Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck northbound in the southbound lanes of the North Freeway when he struck a white Ford Mustang that was heading southbound.
The driver of the Mustang was declared dead at the scene while his female passenger, 48, was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital with unspecified injuries.
Almanza was taken to St. Joseph’s Medical Center in unknown condition. He was arrested and charged with intoxication manslaughter and intoxicated assault in the 228th State District Court.
The crash remains under investigation.
