Man Killed in Head-On Crash on FM 730 near Azle; Brandi Love Charged

68-Year-Old Man Killed in Azle Two-Vehicle Crash on FM 730 at Reed Road; Brandi Love Charged

Azle, Texas (April 23, 2021) – A 68-year-old man was killed Thursday night in a head-on collision near Azle, according to the police.

The deadly crash happened on April 22, on FM 730 at Reed Road.

Police said Brandi Kay Love, 33, was driving a Chevrolet pickup truck northbound on FM 730 when she attempted to pass another vehicle, drove into oncoming traffic, and crashed head-on into a southbound Toyota passenger car driven by the 68-year-old man.

Both the Toyota driver and Love had to be extricated from the vehicles.

The Toyota driver was airlifted to Harris Hospital, where he later died. His name has not been released.

Love was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital, where she was treated and released into the custody of the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office. She has been charged with intoxication manslaughter and is currently being held at the Tarrant County Jail.

The crash remains under investigation.

In Texas, a driver is legally intoxicated after consuming alcohol if their blood alcohol content (BAC) is .08% or higher. A driver is also considered intoxicated if they don’t have the normal use of their mental or physical faculties by reason of the introduction of alcohol. Alcohol however is not the only intoxicant, as drivers can become intoxicated by ingesting prescription and illegal drugs such as crack, marijuana, and cocaine.
