Woman Killed in Truck Accident on 30 Freeway in Mesquite Identified

Amanda Smith ID’d as Woman Killed in Mesquite Collision on Interstate 30

Mesquite, Texas (November 16, 2023) – The woman who died in Mesquite big rig crash Monday afternoon has been identified by the Mesquite Police Department as 50-year-old Amanda Smith.

Authorities responded to the deadly traffic collision on Interstate 30 just after 12:30 p.m. on November 13.

According to the Mesquite police, a semi-truck traveling on I-30 lost control, hit the median, and the impact caused the trailer to overturn in the westbound lanes.

Two SUVs and a van traveling westbound were hit by the trailer.

Smith, who was driving the van, was pronounced dead at a hospital.

The operators of the SUVs were taken to hospital. One of the patients had life-threatening injuries while the other was reportedly in stable condition.

The crash caused the closure of I-30 for hours as authorities cleared the scene.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.

Mesquite, Texas (November 16, 2023) – One person was killed and two others injured in a crash involving a big rig in Mesquite on Monday afternoon.

According to the Mesquite Police Department, the wreck happened on Interstate 30 shortly after 12:30 p.m. on November 13.

Police said a semi-truck lost control, struck the median, and its trailer overturned in the westbound lanes.

The trailer then collided with two SUVs and a van.

The woman driving the van was pronounced deceased at a hospital.

The drivers of the SUVs were transported to the hospital. One of them was in critical condition while the other was in stable condition.

The wreck impacted Interstate 30 for hours as crews worked to clear the scene.

No criminal charges were made.

The identity of the deceased was not immediately disclosed.

More information about the wreck was not provided.
